Change is Personal | Transformation is Possible

About Me

Issues around health are very personal for me.  I have experienced the feelings of helplessness and deep grief surrounding the cancer diagnoses of both my wonderful parents (Onsy & Samia), loving aunt Mimi, and mother-in-law Joann.  Chronic disease took the lives of my biggest supporters and anchors in life way too soon, leaving me determined to transform this tragedy into triumph against the various cancers of our society: trauma, isolation, the broken food system, distraction, addictions, etc..

For over a decade as a licensed and board-certified Occupational Therapist, I've learned that people mistakenly think that chronic diseases are mysterious medical diagnoses that we can do nothing to prevent.  During and after health struggles, we suffer from grief and mental/emotional/spiritual turmoil within us.  But what if we didn't accept all this passively?  What if there was something we could do immediately to begin healing?

Well...there is!

My holistic, compassionate, and evidence-based approach addresses lifestyle factors that we can change.  I have used my expertise and training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing to counsel and coach clients through their health struggles, whether they be physical, mental, or spiritual in nature.

A Philosophy of Hope
Based in Science

Health and wellness can't be reduced a simple medical issues!  Modern science and ancient wisdom tell us that mental and spiritual and environmental factors are hugely important.  While completing my Masters of Theological Studies (MTS) degree, I focused on the connection between body, mind, and spirit as it pertains to food and health.  All out lifestyle choices (including food selection and quality, eating habits, sedentary routines, stress management, social isolation) touch the various components of human existence.  Social isolation, lack of community connection, sedentary lifestyles, processed food consumption, loss of meal preparation skills, physical dependence/addictions to food and substances, and exposure to toxic substances and people in our daily lives.

My approach considers all these factors, from soul to soil!  Combining science, theology, psychology, and the practical approach of Occupational Therapy, I reframe and demystify health goals so we can prevent, treat and heal the conditions in which they developed.  God created humanity to have authority and dominion over all of creation—including our bodies—to heal and connect creation with the creator.
